Coup Marks has become members of The Montana World Trade Center (MWTC) which works to increase international trade through public-private partnerships, business networking, and student education. In the entire state of Montana, and well beyond its borders, there is no other source of information and access to global trade opportunities that is comparable to the Montana World Trade Center. Geoff Sutton came and talked to the group Nov. 19th.
Awarded Potlatch Grant $1500 to do monument of Louis Charlo to be placed in front of tribal Head Quarters. In Western Montana the story of Louie Charlo is known in both Native American and non-native circles. The “first” flag raising on Mount Suribachi on Iwo Jima and his death two days later in battle are very well known. Louie Charlo’s story is the story of Montana hometown “boys” who faced the challenge of their generation, World War II. If you spend any time in Indian Country in Montana and listen to the stories you will hear many accounts like the Louie Charlo story repeated in all of the Native American communities including the Blackfeet, Gro Ventre, Assiniboine, Sioux, Northern Cheyenne, Crow, Chippewa, Cree or on the Flathead Reservation--the Salish, the Kootenai and the Pend d’Oreille. This generation is fading away, but they represent a generation of Native Americans, that despite the assaults of history, fought to preserve their place in the 20th century.
Coup Marks has attended various Art and Trade Shows throughout the State as well as Idaho.
