Alex R. Courville was born in March 1950, in a small town in Montana called St. Ignatius. St. Ignatius is one of many small communities on the Salish and Kootenai Indian Reservation in Western Montana. His mother and father were both descendants from both of these tribes, with a little bit of French thrown in. As far as his artistic talents go, he has never taken any art classes in school. He has always been able to draw with a pen or pencil. He is gifted with a natural talent.
Even though his artistic forte is for the most part Native American in theme, he loves creating paintings of scenery with ìAmerican wild life in the Rockies.î
